Seventeen year old Ryan Preece of Berlin won his first Whelen Modified Tour event in Saturday's Made in American Whelen 300 at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Va.
Preece, who has been a threat to win numerous times this season on the Whelen Modified Tour, is now the youngest winner in the history of the division, bettering former youngest winner Tom Cravenho Jr., who won his first race in 1995. MORE.....

A REFRESHED TONY HIRSCHMAN WINS HIS THIRD CAREER SUNOCO RACE OF CHAMPIONS VICTORY ON SATURDAY NIGHT
Oswego, NY … In his first race since last October Tony Hirschman showed that he didn’t lose his touch behind the wheel of a Modified on Saturday night at the Oswego Speedway for the 58th running of the Sunoco Race of Champions. Szegedy Modified Mania WMT Winner at Thompson
Thompson, CT (September 7, 2008): With Tropical storm Hanna but a memory, Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield, CT, ended nearly a one-year drought with his win in the Whelen Modified Tour 150 under crystal clear blue skies as part of Modified Mania at Thompson International Speedway on Sunday. Matt Hirschman of Northampton, PA turned in a dominating performance to win the 75-lap main event for the Race of Champions. Todd Owen of Somers, CT, was declared the winner in a wild 75-lapper for the True Value Modified Racing Series (TVMRS). In weekly series action, Jimmy Blewett of Howell, NJ, was the winner in the Sunoco Modifieds and R.J. Marcotte of Millville, MA, in the TIS Modifieds. Norm Wrenn of Nashua, NH, was the winner in the visiting Pro-Four Modifieds.
